Still LOST?

May 27th, 2010

I know there’s a lot of people who are still confused about the ending of LOST and wondering about all of those unanswered questions. This article does a pretty good job summing everything up and the second video answers some questions.

What are your thoughts on the finale?

The End: Lost Finale Review

May 26th, 2010

*If you haven’t seen the final episode or ever intend on watching LOST please do yourself a favor and do not read on. It will only spoil a great experience for your LOST journey.*

I love LOST. I think it is the best television series I have ever experienced. It was bittersweet as The End approached. I longed for any answers, but at the same time the mysteries is what made this show so intriguing.

Season Six began with a look at what life would be like for our survivors if Oceanic 815 never crashed. On island, we saw deeper into the story of the island, Jacob and the MIB roles, and finally the story of Richard Alpert! That episode was epic. Jack on island and off in the flash sideways is still looking for ways to fix everything. On island he becomes a man of faith. He takes on the job as protector of the island. He finally finds his purpose. All the while, the MIB is trying to leave the island and destroy it and everyone else. We see the origins of the MIB and Jacob. Two boys with a crazy mother with their own personal failures and pain. Over the past six years we have seen our survivors in their worst moments. We have seen them in pain, joy, life and death. The writes have always done an excellent job of character building. Making the viewers love these characters despite their obvious flaws.

On present day island, the remaining survivors, Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sawyer are trying to stop the MIB. Acting as the new Jacob, Jack goes to the heart of the island to protect it from the MIB and to ultimately kill him. It was humerous to me how literal the cork and bottle scenario Jacob used to describe the island actually was. There literally was a stone in keeping the island safe, like the cork holding in the wine. Once removed, the island began to sink. This changed the mortality of the MIB and Jack. Both were susceptible to death now. The MIB took this opportunity to leave thinking he had succeeded in destroying the island. But Jack more determined than ever fought back. With Kate’s help, he was able to kill the MIB, but not before receiving a stab in the stomach. Jack knew what must be done. He passed on the job of protector to Hurley. He set off to save the island. He replaced the stone to save the island, even if it cost him his life. Meanwhile, Sawyer, Kate and Claire were able to get on the Ajira plane with Ben, Miles and Lapidus.

As the season progressed, we see the flash sideways timeline start to knit together the characters. They still managed to effect each others lives even with Oceanic 815 not crashing on the island. As they effect each others lives, they begin to see flashes of their lives on the island. Finally, all the survivors are together in this church. Jack is the last to see visions of his past life on the island. Jack sees his father’s coffin and it is empty. His dad appears behind him. Jack questions how he can be there if he is dead, and his father says, ”How are YOU here, Jack”. Jack then realizes he is dead as well as his friends and begins to weep. Christian says ”Everyone dies sometime kiddo. Some before you son, some long after you… there is no ‘now’, here…This is the place that you all made together so you could find one another. The most important part of your life was the time that you spent with these people. That’s why all of you are here. Nobody does it alone, Jack.” Jack walks into the church with his dad and all the survivors hug and sit down in the pews. It is time to let go and move on.

On island, Jack stumbles into the bamboo forest where we first saw our hero awake in season one. We see Christian’s shoe still suspended from the tree, though weathered now after 3 years on the island. Jack lies down to die, holding his stab wound. Vincent comes from the clearing to rest beside Jack, ensuring that he won’t die alone. Jack looks up the sky to see the Ajira flight safely flying over head. He smiles knowing he accomplished what he set forth to do. His friends were safely leaving the island.

In the flash sideways, Christian walks to the back of the church and light fills the room. On island, Jack’s eye closing was the final moment in the series. Poignant and Perfect.

Live together or Die alone.

I thought it was a wonderful end to an amazing series. Everything that happened, happened. They experienced life and death, pain and suffering, joy and healing on the island. Their experiences brought them closer. Made them better. Even though LOST had mystery, thrills, and science phenomena, it was always a story about these flawed individuals. A story of redemption.

jacob. jacob.

i was looking at LOST shirts and found this. the description says, “this jacob doesn’t sparkle”

ummm… neither does the other one. he’s a werewolf (technically, shape shifter). only vampires sparkle. duh.

LOST: The Final Season; Episode 1 Review

February 2nd, 2010

these are my intial thoughts… i will probably re-watch the episode, ponder and post again :)

SPOILER ALERT!!!

i have waited and waited and waited along with the rest of the LOST fans for this day to arrive. the moment when answers would begin to be answered and a resolution might be possible for my favorite characters. the day and the hour finally arrived. time for LOST.

the first scene with jack on the plane and it continuing on without the crash pretty much made my heart sink. really? that is all you have for us? and the cheesy, horrible effects showing the sunken island? really?! because THAT is not what i would have expected, imagined or even hoped for. but, in true LOST fashion, the show progressed on. adding in interesting things like charlie saying to jack, “i was supposed to die” and all the connections that the losties would have had if oceanic 815 would have landed at LAX.

a few months ago at dinner with some friends, it occurred to me. the man in black has to be christian… has to be the “not john locke” (as i like to call him) and the smoke monster. and after going back and watching season 5 again, this became pretty clear that was the case. and i was at least correct about the MIB being the smoke monster and obviously “not john locke” which was revealed during the season finale, duh… and i think we will see that the times where dead people showed up, it was the MIB. so, one mystery solved.

but of course, there are about hundred other questions now. are the people at the temple “others”? who is that ninja dude? and hippie guy? and is jacob sayid now (ps… miles TOTALLY knew sayid wasn’t dead!)? was it symbolic of Christ’s resurrection when they lifted sayid out of the water? and WHEN are they? and DO they actually make it to LAX? is richard alpert alive (i hope so, because i kinda like him)… why couldn’t the MIB leave the island but jacob could? was the MIB a prisoner there? and “the others”, the same people that follow jacob also summoned the smoke monster… the same smoke monster that is the MIB? doesn’t that seem a bit odd? would jacob want the MIB hurting/killing the people on the island?

ohh so many questions. and my mind is going crazy trying to figure it all out. next tuesday needs to get here soon and there better not be as many commercials!

if you have any theories or thoughts let me know, i’d be interested to hear them. hope you had a happy LOST day, friends!

because it is my obsession…

January 28th, 2010

have you noticed my little tab up there titled, “LOST”?

5 days!!!

for the past couple years we have had to wait from may until late january or early february for the return each season. it is such a long wait, but it is finally here! i am so excited about the sixth and final season premier on tuesday. it is so exciting to know that many of the mysteries will be solved and we may have some insight about what has been going on for the past 5 seasons. but, it is also kinda sad. it is the final season. what will i do with out jack, kate, sawyer, locke, jacob and all my other losties? the character development on LOST is the best i have seen. i have become ridiculously attached to them and want to see a resolution for them. it has been like the most awesome movie i have ever seen but on my tv. it seriously is the very best show on television.

on tuesday you can bet that i will wear my LOST shirt (of course i have one, silly) and be waiting anxiously for the premier to start! yay LOST! yay yay yay yay yay!

finale time

May 16th, 2009

apparently when you get married you start to watch television a lot. we have a weekly schedule of shows we watch. because i have nothing better to blog about currently, i will recap some finales.

let’s start with my favorite: lost. i love lost. and i loved the finale. statue, jacob, locke’s body in box (what the?!)… it was really quite great. it answered so many questions, but of course opened lots more. now we wait about 8 more months for its return. and sadly, that will be the last season. what will we do without lost? i guess we will buy all the seasons and start over with the new answers we will have.

30 rock: love love love this show. i was disappointed with the finale. not the usual amount of funny.

the office: pretty good. obviously pam is preggers.

grey’s: ok. that was a pretty good finale. it was becoming increasingly  obvious towards the end that “john doe” was george. but, still, it was a pretty interesting plot. didn’t like izzie in the prom dress at the end… how many times will we see that? but, overall it was pretty good. i’m sure one of them will miraculously survive like mere did when she died for like a whole 5 minutes or something ridiculous. waiting another 4 months seems like nothing compared to my waiting for lost…

and that’s all i got for now.

LOST!

January 21st, 2009

is coming on in a hour and a half!!!!

and i’m SO excited!

snow dances and wearing your pj’s inside out…

January 12th, 2009

does absolutely nothing. where did this “snow” go? oh yeah, that’s right, we have a bubble over middle tennessee that prevents any snow from coming.

dear weather man, in the future i would appreciate your forecasts to be more accurate, as to not cause any hope for a snow day in our school systems. a 20% chance of snow is hardly worth mentioning. so just keep it to yourself. thanks.

dear fellow staff members, please do not get your hopes up in future chances of snow. it just creates a pretty crappy day when we have to wake up early and go to work. i say, stay negative. it will make you appreciate a snow day when you get one and keep you from being bitter on the day you had hoped to be off. glass half empty? definitely in this school system.

so. my pj’s stay right side on. no snow dances here. so, prove me wrong, universe, if you dare. it will not snow. and we will  not get out. my prediction. thank you.

p.s. dear 24, i doubted tony’s return. i was heartbroken when he died, and then you say he’s alive? how could you toy with me that way? and make him seem bad? how dare you take a perfect character and turn him like that?! but, alas, 24. you have proved yourself worthy yet again. my beloved character is good. and alive. how refreshing. thank you, 24. you have my attention now.

p.s.s dear lost, i cannot wait for you. i am longing for your return. i am lost without you… and with you. you make my life complete.
